Susan Mace is currently a Senior Actuarial Analyst at the State Accident Insurance Fund (SAIF) Corporation in Salem, OR.
“What I love about my job is that no day is the same! I get to work on so many aspects of the career field: ratemaking, reserving, financial statements, and capital modeling. There are still cycles that we go through with work (finally finishing up annual statements 🥳), but also lots of opportunity to make an impact on my team and company. I’m able to approach each day knowing I get to work with my awesome team and look for opportunities to do our work better!
I do a lot of data analysis using SQL, SAS, and R. Pretty soon I’ll be working on making some enhancements to a tool I built last year that uses extension of exposures to on-level historic premiums.
My company is smaller than my prior company, so I’m still getting used to many new things (like the CEO calling you to say congrats on passing your exam 🤓). One thing that hasn’t changed is getting to work with amazing people. I’m on a team of 5 with the nicest humans who appreciate my crazy personality and sense of humor.”
